Fish in the
Fields
Launched in 2012, Fish in the Fields (FIF) adapts the age-old practice of rice-fish co-cultivation to modern agricultural practices, raising small freshwater fish in winter-flooded rice fields.
Our riceland management practice harnesses natural systems to:
1) foster resilience for two essential foods–rice and fish;
2) sustain wildlife habitat and build biodiversity;
3) improve nutrient/carbon cycling;
4) support the economic and ecological sustainability of rural communities
“A game changer for people
and the planet.”
