Mission

The Resource Renewal Institute (RRI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to solving complex environmental problems by developing, promoting and facilitating innovative strategies for a sustainable future.

RRI is an incubator of important ideas designed to challenge and change the way our resources are currently managed and protected. A sustainable future for the earth and its inhabitants means acting now to implement long term policies and plans that will guarantee the health of the planet and a high quality of life for future generations.

Founded in 1985 by former California Cabinet Secretary of Resources, Huey D. Johnson, projects at RRI range from the recently launched Defense of Place conservation initiative, to ongoing projects such as Green Planning—the promotion of long-term, comprehensive governance strategies designed to achieve sustainability.

Current projects

RRI staff bring years of environmental and policy experience, as well as rigorous dedication, to its mission. We have a proven track record in bringing about change.
